We are all aware that Materials Management continues to be the most important area for focusing managerial efforts in order to reduce costs and increase profits because:
* Materials constitute over 50 percent of the cost of any product and the total expenditure in any Company.
* 80-90 percent of the working capital is tied up in materials.
* Huge inventories invariably exist in Indian Industries, eroding profits and occupying valuable space.
* High Inventories cover up a plethora of errors and managerial lapses.

Mr. A. K. Vohra is an Engineering Graduate from Punjab Engineering College Chandigarh and Post Graduate in Industrial Engineering from TIPIE Madras. His specialization in Materials Management with propounding the concept of Value Management for managing Value Analysis and Value Engineering initiatives in the organization on continual basis. He has about 35 years of experience and has worked in various capacities with National Productivity Council of India and subsequently as vice-President Corporate-Process and Productivity Management. He has widely travelled in India and abroad.
He has also got specialized training on Corporate and Strategic Planning and Toyota Production System from Germany and Japan respectively, also an IRCA certified auditor for ISO 9001Quality Management System, SA-8000, ISO-22000 and Business Excellence and Six Sigma Master Black Belt. An effective trainer and consultant, he has conducted numerous National and International seminars and workshops on a wide spectrum of topics related to productivity and cost reduction aspects. |
