Today's business landscape is like a swamp, changing all the time and bringing constantly many uncertainties and challenges. Everything we knew about managing a successful business has changed. Successful past does not guarantee anything about the future of the business. Traditional roadmaps for managing the business were of tremendous help in a normal business environment. In a swamp-like landscape, roadmaps are of little help. To know the direction and change course on time and appropriately, corporations need powerful Compasses. Leaders with their eyes and ears constantly scanning the external environment with ability to sense and recognize changes and challenges as they appear on the business horizon will only be able to charter the organizations towards future success.

Mahalingam (Mali), Executive Vice President& Chief People Officer, Symphony Services Corporation.Prior to Joining Symphony Services, he was VP HR with IBM's domestic Operations, VP and Country Manager HR for Hewlett Packard and Director HR for Philips Software Center.He has been a member of national HR committee of CII for over 10 years and a member of the nasscom mentorship panel from the very beginning.He is one of the four Architects of HR competency framework Developed under aegis of CII and National HRD Network.He frequently shares his experiences with leading B schools including IIMB besides being on governing body of many B schools.
